Winter Gritting

Snow Clearance
OUTCO are the experts at snow clearance from car parks, roads and pedestrian areas, ensuring our clients’ facility remains safe and compliant at all times. Snow clearance is different from snow removal, which involves removing the snow from a site completely. Our regional operational teams are responsible for local delivery of snow clearance and snow event management. Our regions are South-East, Midlands, South-West, North, Scotland, and Ireland. Each region has an allocation of vehicles and equipment relative to their portfolio of sites and the individual requirements. As part of our pre-season planning, we assign dedicated regional teams to specific local sites for the duration of the winter. This ensures site and service familiarity.
Grit Bins
OUTCO’s managed grit bin solution provides strategically placed grit bins with a salt top-up service including the required tools. This service offers additional peace of mind ensuring your site is always safe and ice free. We also supply grit bins, shovels and scoops for outright purchase as well as grit bin refills as and when you need. OUTCO has the capability to spread or supply a wide range of traditional and specialist de-icing products. Available products range from traditional salt and grit types to low corrosive or eco-friendly products, all supplied in bulk or bagged. OUTCO de-icing products cater for all surfaces, including metal car parks and stairways, airport runways, train stations and sensitive ecological areas. For most standard de-icing situations, OUTCO uses sustainable white salt as our main de-icing agent, as this material is highly effective. However, we are continuously testing and evaluating bespoke de-icing treatments and new products.

OUTCO is the sole UK distributor for BOSS winter equipment, North America’s premium brand of highly resilient gritting and snow clearing equipment: tough gear for tough conditions. From gritting spreaders to a range of snow ploughs, we stock all the BOSS winter equipment to service the winter industry’s requirements including all spares, and a full maintenance and a full servicing provision.

Case Studies
Our extensive portfolio incorporates Amazon’s logistics sites across the UK. Amazon’s winter services are are delivered 24/7 between November and March and include mechanical gritting of car parks and delivery areas. OUTCO provides all winter services for Amazon’s 51 logistics sites across the UK, covering 600,000m2 of serviceable area. Daily pre-service and post-service reports are emailed to Amazon representatives, as are monthly attendance/activity reports.

The summer of 2022 will be remembered as being a hot and dry one, in which temperatures in the UK reached a record-breaking 40.3C at the peak of the heatwave.
