Stephenson Group
OUTCO were appointed by the Stephenson Group in Leeds to complete a screed coating refurbishment to their sump tanks and the 30m² surrounding area, this also included a civils element of the project to raise 4 manholes in this area and apply a fillet to a 36m wall.
Following an initial survey by our specialist team, identifying current issues, with specialist coatings experience and knowledge, OUTCO was able to offer a solution fit for the tanks purpose.
OUTCO proposed the use of an IFS self levelling floor compound, The IFS material hardens to provide a strong bonding, thin yet high quality, durable floor, the fluid flow, self-smoothing, self-levelling compound will not segregate, bleed or dust, minimising contamination risk with maximum wear resistance. The additional benefit to the Stephenson Group is the material is impermeable, waterproof and dense, and will resist corrosive chemicals, non-flammable and non-toxic.
The project was just over a week to completion and included a complete cleansing of the tanks, including removal of debris from the tanks floors and walls, raising of the manhole covers roughly 20mm above current level. The remediation to the tanks required a four day period before the project was completed by laying a primer and IFS self-levelling floor compound to a 20mm thickness.
OUTCO’s objective throughout this project was to ensure both areas were liquid tight, minimising safety and environmental risk.
“We worked with OUTCO Group on a project to refurbish the sump tanks and surrounding surface area on an existing effluent treatment plant. This work was done under a compressed timescale and was subject to challenges from the weather and the worldwide availability of raw materials due to covid”.
